Christmas is one of the few times a year where I truly love getting glammed up and making an effort. At the same time, as the year comes to a close and everyone is overwhelmed with busy social and work schedules, we don’t always have the time to spend hours on our appearance. I love to always have a simplistic makeup look on the backburner for when I just need to grab and go. So in this Blogmas post I’ll be sharing a few of my favourite Christmas beauty products that I always end up reaching for during festive times.
I’ll be taking both the well-loved classics and the newcomers into consideration. There will also be a high-end and a high-street option for each product type, in order to cater for everyone’s budget.
Christmas Beauty Products: Bronzer
Benefit Hoola Bronzer £27
Starting things off with the famous Hoola bronzer! This is an amazing beauty product, it’s super buildable so you can be as subtle or as strong with it as you like. There’s also no shimmer in it making for a more natural look, plus it’ll last you all day.
Rimmel London Highlight/Contour/Blush Sculpting Palette £6.99
Although this comes as a 3-in-1, I find the bronzer/contour shade particularly lovely. It’s very compact packaging and great for travelling. The powder blends really nicely making it one of the most useful Christmas beauty products.
Christmas Beauty Products: Highlighter
Benefit Dandelion Highlighter £27
This beautiful champagne-coloured shimmery shade provides just the right amount of brightness to your face without it being too over-powering. My sister Jess actually bought it for me a couple of Christmases ago as part of a Benefit gift set; and I’ve honestly never looked back. This will definitely be my highlighter of choice for Christmas day 2020.
NYX Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder £9
Another fantastic option for highlighter is the NYX illuminating powder. The great thing about this beauty brand is that they’re quite affordable given the quality that you get. This highlighter is really long-lasting with beautiful pigment to it.
Christmas Beauty Products: Eyeshadow
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette £43
Another Christmas present from my siblings a few years ago would be my very well-loved Naked 2 palette from Urban Decay. I would recommend this to anyone. You can create so many kinds of makeup looks with it, from a natural style to a bold smokey eye. Naked 2 has a great balance between matte and shimmery shades, so you can create a variety of different Christmas looks.
Revolution Re-Loaded Newtrals 2 Eyeshadow Palette OR Affection Eyeshadow Palette £5
The reason I mentioned them both here is because I tend to flick between the two quite a lot, depending on the time of day and the occasion. Last year on christmas day and for my work christmas party I opted for the Newtrals 2 Palette because I fell in love with the warm tones and the bright shimmery shades. So if I could only pick one then I’d probably go for the Newtrals; however, if you like more subtle eyeshadow looks and are planning on choosing a bolder/brighter lip colour, then the affection palette may be your best bet.
Christmas Beauty Products: Lips
Mac Velvet Teddy or Smoked Almond £17.50
Mac are known for their incredible lipsticks, and with good reason. Both of these colours happen to be quite natural, with Velvet Teddy probably being one of the most famous high-end nude lipsticks out there. Smoked Almond is also a lovely colour, but has a bit more pink to it.
Revlon Nude liquid lipstick in shade Seduction £8.99
This is such a wearable lip shade and it just happens to be the product I carry around with me at all times. So versatile and will go with pretty much any outfit.
Sleek red liquid lipstick in shade Fired Up £4.99
Alternatively, if any of you prefer a bolder lip choice, then Jess would highly recommend the Sleek liquid lipstick Fired Up, she’s quite the lover of a festive red lip.
Christmas Beauty Products: Nails
O.P.I Tinsel, Tinsel ‘Lil Star £15.50
This metallic shimmery nail colour is perfect for the Christmas celebrations. O.P.I are really nice quality that usually last quite well on your nails, so this nail varnish should last you most of the Christmas period!
Barry M Plush Blush or Ruby Slippers £3.99
Barry M were the first ever nail varnishes I ever bought, and the only ones I bought for years. They do say that if you find something you like then you might as well stick with it! I think that Plush Blush would make for such a pretty and subtle Christmas colour. It’s also versatile enough to go with most outfit choices too which is always a plus. But if you really wanted to get into the spirit of things, then Ruby Slippers will probably offer you exactly what you’re looking for. The shimmery red shade will definitely make your nails stand out.
