How to: Create your own Well-Being Hamper

Something that I have loved in recent years, whether that’s putting them together myself or watching other people put them together on YouTube, are Hampers! I don’t know what it is about them, I just think they are the cutest idea for a gift. They’re also great because you can easily adapt a hamper to your budget, and they give you the freedom to be as creative and thoughtful as you like as you can personalise it for the specific person you’re giving it to.

Quote about kindness - hampers

So as Mental Health Awareness Week comes to an end, I thought I’d do a short and simple post of how to make your own self-care hamper for a friend/relative, because especially during periods like these, I think everyone could do with a little self-care. As the theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is kindness, I figured what better time to show someone a little love. So here are some ideas that you could put into your very own well-being hamper:

Bath-time Products:

This is always a nice and simple place to start. You can’t really go wrong with a few bath/shower products to help them relax.

  • Face mask/foot mask
  • Bath bomb
  • Lavender shower gel or body lotion
  • Candle
  • Bubble bath
  • Nail file/emery board
  • Nail polish
  • Waterproof neck pillow for the bath
  • Flannel
  • Hair mask
  • A book that you think they’d enjoy

A hamper wouldn’t be complete without a couple of treats to balance it out.

  • Chocolate (this one’s a given)
  • Hot chocolate sachets
  • Marshmallows
  • Ice-cream
  • Wine (if appropriate)
  • Sweets
  • Pre-mixed cocktails
  • Cookies
  • Cakes (homemade, if you’re up for giving it a go)

To Help Them Unwind:

It’s always good to have something on-hand to distract you from whatever is going on in the real world, and having a bit of wind-down time with some of the following items might be exactly what your friend or family member needs.

  • A notebook for them to journal in
  • Herbal tea bags
  • A mix-tape or playlist you put together of their favourite songs or some relaxing music
  • Colouring book with some pens/pencils
  • Sleep mask
  • Comfy pyjamas
  • Fluffy socks
  • A book on mindfulness
  • Sleep spray
  • Affirmation cards
  • A scrapbook + some starter scrapbook supplies
  • Stress ball or a fidget spinner
Items for well-being hampers
Just a handful of things you could add to your own!

A few random bits to finish off that didn’t necessarily fit into the other categories, but might also make nice additions to a well-being hamper.

  • A handwritten/personalised note telling them why they’re important to you or what you love about them
  • Dream-catcher
  • Cute mug
  • Feel-good DVD
  • Reed diffuser
  • Cuddly toy
  • Lip balm
  • Friendship bracelet (handmade if you really want to get creative)
  • Tissues
  • A succulent, e.g. a Jade plant (symbolises good luck and positive energy)

Now I’m aware that there are a fair few things on this list, and to include all of them you’d need a considerably large basket! But I thought I’d suggest plenty of different options to give you guys some inspiration, and you can pick and choose from there. Be sure to let me know if there’s anything else you would add to this list, and we’ll be back soon! Take care x
